As a Barista/Cafe All-Rounder, your role is essential to maintaining high coffee quality, fast service, and exceptional customer experience. You are expected to manage the coffee station efficiently while actively supporting front-of-house service, light food preparation, and maintaining store hygiene.
Core Responsibilities
- Barista Operations & Coffee Quality
- Dial in espresso machines daily and calibrate grinders for optimal extraction.
- Prepare high volumes of espresso beverages, teas, and cold drinks accurately and consistently.
- Maintain proper milk-steaming technique, temperature control, and presentation standards.
- Keep the espresso station clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift.
- Perform daily machine maintenance, steam wand sanitization, and end-of-day backwashing.
- Customer Service & POS
- Greet guests warmly and process food and beverage orders efficiently.
- Handle cash and card transactions using the POS system accurately.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and dietary alternatives.
- Address customer feedback quickly and professionally.
- Floor & Service Support
- Deliver food and drinks to tables promptly.
- Clear, sanitize, and reset tables immediately after customers depart.
- Keep the dining room, counter, and condiment stations clean and fully stocked.
- Food Prep & Housekeeping
- Assist with basic food preparation (heating items, plating pastries, toasties, or salads).
- Assist with dishwashing, trash removal, and back-of-house clean-up during downtime.
- Complete assigned opening, midday, or closing task checklists thoroughly.
- Follow all food safety standards, hygiene protocols, and workplace safety procedures.
