Keep Care Moving: Ward Administration Assistant

Join the Flinders Infusion Suite team at Flinders Medical Centre as a part-time Ward Administration Assistant, where your organisational skills directly support the delivery of patient care. In this short-term contract role within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, you'll be the administrative backbone of a busy clinical unit — managing appointments, patient records, and day-to-day ward coordination. If you're a confident communicator with a sharp eye for detail and a genuine interest in health, this is a rewarding opportunity to contribute where it counts.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible for the provision of administrative, clerical and reception services. The position is required to work in close proximity to patients and should have a working knowledge of hospital operations & activities.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensuring that requests of the patient’s family re visitors are adhered to,
  • Answering all incoming telephone calls and dealing with routine patient enquiries – using judgement in conveying appropriate information,
  • Welcoming and directing visitors to the patient concerned,
  • Preparing patient notes on admission and sort notes prior to discharge,
  • Effectively managing the patient booking process,
  • Participating in activities associated with Medicare bulk billing,
  • Filing results in the patient medical record,
  • Maintaining records/statistics pertinent to each area and identifying systems that require improvement

About you:

  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills,
  • Demonstrate problem solving and decision-making skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work and meet deadlines,
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team,
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision,
  • Previous experience as a Ward Administrative Assistant/Admin Assistant,
  • Experience working in a clinical environment
