The role

      The purpose of this position is to develop, plan and oversee the Wata Takoort group program ensuring that programs and activities are appropriate to the needs and abilities of the clients/participants, are culturally appropriate, and meet all relevant guidelines. The Wata Takoort group is inclusive of all aboriginal nations, everyone is respectful and responsible for each other’s welfare and well-being.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work together with team to ensure the smooth running of the Wata Takoort group programs:
  • Create, plan, organise and implement culturally appropriate activities, events, camps and outings for Wata Takoort calendar including:
    • Excursions to Country
    • Special Event attendance
    • Harris St activities
      • Bingo
      • Special Guests
      • Art and Craft
    • Annual Camp
    • Activities are to focus on
      • Health promotion
      • Healthy food
      • Fitness
      • Cognitive function
      • Mental health
      • Culture
  • Ensure Wata Takoort attendees collaborate in calendar development.
  • Liaise with other community groups and organisations for group excursions, special events and special guests
  • Ensure all Group Activities are properly resourced, including organising the venue, meals, staffing, and materials, and that promotional media, etc. are developed and distributed in advance of the programs.
  • Ensure that food, materials, and supplies are always available. This may include the ordering and collection of materials, etc.
  • Ensure that all equipment and rooms required/used by the programs are cleaned and serviced
  • Ensure all services are provided in accordance with the Wellness and Reablement Model and clients/participants Individual Care Plans.
  • Support the client to maintain an optimal level of independence, encouraging and empowering them to do what they can and respecting their cultural needs and requests.
  • Supervise support staff working activities and events
  • Report to the Team Leader, all relevant matters that involve a client/participant’s welfare, including all:
    • OH&S issues
    • Incidents
    • Client changes
  • Ensure that all client records and data is recorded in accordance with GAC requirements.
  • Attendance at Wata Takoort excursions and camps, including after-hours work
