Transform workforce reporting for a national government agency by leading a high-profile Aurion-to-Workday transition.

Our client is a high-profile Australian Government organisation with a national focus and a strong commitment to making a positive impact across Australia.

Its culture is built on respect, integrity, teamwork and excellence, with a genuine focus on positive organisational change and continuous improvement.

Right now, the agency is investing heavily in modernising its workforce systems, making this a particularly interesting time to get involved.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced payroll, HR systems or workforce reporting professional who enjoys working at the intersection of people, data and technology.

You will play a key role in supporting a significant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transformation, including the transition from Aurion to Workday.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a major systems change while helping ensure workforce data is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose.

The role offers a genuine mix of payroll, HR systems, workforce data, reporting and continuous improvement.

You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, providing accurate information, solving problems and identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.

For someone who enjoys getting into the detail but also wants to contribute to broader organisational change, this role offers plenty of variety and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

The Role

Day to day, you’ll cover the full breadth of payroll systems, reporting and continuous improvement.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading the transition to Workday from Aurion, working closely with the ERP Program across all HR business functions
  • Acting as data steward for workforce data, ensuring its integrity, reliability and modernisation across all reporting
  • Managing data extraction and report development for Executive Committees, Senate Estimates, the Annual Report, and scheduled or ad-hoc requests
  • Managing and optimising Aurion, including upgrades, enhancements and employee/manager self-service functionality, plus vendor relationship and contract management
  • Preparing system configuration blueprints and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for HR systems and payroll processes
  • Tracking legislative and audit obligations, analysing the impact of changing legislation on payroll and HR requirements
  • Partnering with other team leads to drive operational efficiencies and shape strategic HR initiatives

Additionally, there may be some flexibility for work outside ordinary hours, including occasional weekends, may be required.

The Ideal Person

You have a mixture of experience including payroll, HR systems, workforce data and reporting, ideally gained within a government or similarly complex environment.

You will bring practical experience working with Human Resource Information Systems, with experience using Aurion and/or Workday highly regarded.

You understand the importance of high-quality workforce data and will have a strong focus on data integrity, analysis, reporting and continuous improvement.

You will also have a sound understanding of employment-related legislation and payroll requirements, including taxation, superannuation, parental leave and long service leave, along with relevant enterprise agreements and industrial instruments.

Importantly, you will be someone who enjoys getting into the detail while still understanding the bigger picture.

You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, working with stakeholders at different levels and identifying practical ways to improve how things are done.

This role will suit a forward-thinking HR systems, payroll or workforce reporting professional who is looking to take on a leadership role during a significant period of organisational transformation.
