About the Position:

The Cook plays a central role in the kitchen at Sneaky Possum, preparing and cooking dishes for lunch and dinner service to deliver consistent, well-presented meals that meet the venue’s standards. This position supports the full kitchen operation by handling food preparation, cooking to order, plating, and maintaining food safety and stock levels, ensuring smooth service during busy periods and contributing directly to the quality and reputation of the restaurant’s food offering.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients ready for service
  2. Cook food using grills, ovens, and stoves while following recipes to ensure consistent taste and quality
  3. Plate and present dishes attractively before service
  4. Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and food safety, including correct temperature control for hot and cold foods
  5. Monitor fridge and dry store inventory and assist with ordering when stock is low
  6. Work efficiently as part of the kitchen team during lunch and dinner service

Requirements:

  1. Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply
  2. Certificate IV in Kitchen Management
  3. At least one year of relevant experience as a Cook
  4. Strong practical cooking skills, attention to food safety and hygiene, ability to work under pressure during service, and good communication and teamwork skills
