Your new company
Our client is a well-established engineering and maintenance business servicing the mining, resources and industrial sectors across Central Queensland. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality maintenance and fabrication solutions, they continue to grow and require an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their Mackay-based team.
Your new role
Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, this role will consist of approximately 80% workshop-based work and 20% field service work across various mine sites throughout the Bowen Basin. You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, repairs, overhauls and equipment rebuilds while maintaining a strong focus on safety and workmanship. Site work may be required at locations including Hail Creek, Lake Lindsay, Curragh, Foxleigh, Rolleston, South Walker Creek, Clermont, Coppabella and Burton etc.
What you'll need to succeed
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter
- Previous experience in workshop maintenance and repairs
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current Driver's Licence
- Coal mining induction and site-based tickets highly regarded
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
What you'll get in return
In return, you will secure a casual position with a respected engineering business offering a diverse mix of workshop and site-based work. You will enjoy a workshop rate of $65.00 per hour plus applicable penalties, with site rates of $75.00 per hour Monday to Saturday and $85.00 per hour on Sundays and Public Holidays. While overtime is not guaranteed, 10-hour days are anticipated during the initial months, providing an excellent earning opportunity. A company vehicle will be supplied when undertaking site work.
