We are seeking an experienced Workplace Health and Safety Specialist to join our People Experience team. 

As a trusted WHS expert, you'll work closely with leaders and frontline teams to strengthen our safety culture, reduce risk and drive continuous improvement. Combining hands on support with pragmatic safety expertise, you'll help ensure our people have the knowledge, tools and confidence to work safely every day. From coaching leaders and delivering training, to investigating incidents and identifying emerging risks, you'll play a key role in creating safer, healthier workplaces where our people feel safe, supported and empowered to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

What you’ll do
• Develop, implement and continuously improve our WHS systems, policies and procedures to help keep our people safe and ensure we're meeting our obligations.
• Work closely with leaders, Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and teams across Feros Care to build a positive and proactive approach to safety.
• Provide practical WHS advice and support to help leaders confidently manage safety risks and responsibilities.
• Keep an eye on safety performance, identify trends and share insights and recommendations with leaders.
• Investigate incidents, hazards and near misses, understand what happened, and help implement actions to prevent them happening again.
• Support consultation and safety conversations across the business, ensuring our people feel heard and involved.
• Conduct risk assessments and work alongside operational teams to identify risks and find practical ways to reduce them.
• Partner with the Return to Work, People Experience and operational teams to improve safety outcomes and employee wellbeing.
• Develop and deliver engaging WHS training that builds confidence, knowledge and capability across the workforce.
• Support the organisation during significant safety incidents and emergency situations when required.
• Keep up to date with changes to WHS legislation and industry best practice and help translate these into everyday ways of working.
• Build strong relationships across the organisation through regular site visits and a hands on approach to supporting teams.

What you’ll bring
• Demonstrated experience in a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist, Advisor or similar WHS role.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and best practice, with the ability to make complex requirements easy to understand and apply.
• Experience investigating incidents, assessing risks and driving improvements that make a genuine difference.
• The confidence to build relationships, influence others and have meaningful conversations with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to spot trends, identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences.
• Experience facilitating training, toolbox talks or safety workshops that engage and educate participants.
• A proactive and solutions focused approach, with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
• A hands on style and willingness to spend time with teams in their workplaces, understanding the realities of how work gets done.
• Experience improving processes, supporting change and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Checks
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement) or equivalent qualification.
• Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to local sites in Tweed, Kingscliff and Bangalow,
with occasional travel to other Feros Care locations as required.
• Undergo a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Valid Australian working rights.
