About the Role – WHS Advisor
Reporting into the Project Manager and working closely with site leadership, the WHS Advisor will play a key role in supporting the safe and successful delivery of one of their major commercial construction projects. This position will see you driving safety performance on site, ensuring compliance with project requirements and legislative obligations, while actively engaging with subcontractors and project teams to promote a positive safety culture. This will be a 12-15 month FTC, with the possibility of being made permanent.

Duties

  • Support the implementation and ongoing management of project WHS plans and systems
  • Review project documentation to ensure compliance with legislative, client and company requirements
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Monitor site activities and provide practical safety guidance to project teams and subcontractors
  • Assist with incident investigations, reporting and corrective action management
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing workforce engagement initiatives
  • Support project leadership in maintaining compliance with WHS, quality and environmental requirements
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports and project documentation using digital management systems
  • Contribute to project reporting and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a WHS Advisor or similar role within construction, civil infrastructure, utilities, or other high-risk, project-based environments
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial or major building projects advantageous 
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management and construction safety requirements
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits and incident investigations
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and digital safety management platforms
