Our business is a VET provider college seeking a fulltime Vocational Education Trainer to deliver building and construction courses.
About the role
The Vocational Education Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering and assessing nationally recognised vocational education and training programs in the building and construction industry. The position will primarily support delivery and assessment of CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining and CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building). The teacher will combine practical industry experience with VET teaching and assessment skills to provide students with industry-relevant training and ensure they achieve the required competencies.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver vocational training in wall and ceiling lining, building and construction
- Deliver theory and practical training in accordance with the relevant training package, units of competency and AIMERS College training and assessment strategies
- Conduct practical demonstrations and provide students with hands-on instruction in wall and ceiling lining techniques
- Teach students how to interpret plans, specifications and construction documentation relevant to building and construction work
- Demonstrate and train students in the selection and safe use of construction tools, equipment and materials
- Provide instruction in measuring, cutting, fixing and installing plasterboard and other wall and ceiling lining systems
- Train students in workplace health and safety, construction practices and safe work procedures
- Conduct competency-based assessments using approved assessment tools
- Provide constructive feedback and additional training where students have not yet demonstrated competency
- Maintain accurate training, assessment, attendance and student progression records
About you
- CPC31220 – Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining (current nationally recognised qualification)
- TAE40122 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (current nationally recognised qualification)
- CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) (current nationally recognised qualification)
- Demonstrated industry experience in wall and ceiling lining and building and construction
- Demonstrated practical experience applying and fixing wall and ceiling linings
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications
- Experience delivering vocational training and competency-based assessment
- Demonstrated understanding of the Australian VET system and competency-based assessment
- Current knowledge of construction industry practices, WHS requirements and relevant standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds
