What’s the opportunity?

Are you ready to take the next step in your underground mining career? We’re on the lookout for a reliable, safety-focused Leading Hand to support our Development Supervisor in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality underground development activities at Northparkes.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be the go-to person on shift, supporting the crew, coordinating tasks, and keeping things running smoothly underground. You’ll play a key part in maintaining our strong safety culture, mentoring team members, and ensuring work is completed to plan.

This role operates on a 7/7 roster (days and nights)

What you’ll be doing:

• Acting as 2IC to the Development Supervisor and stepping up when needed and supporting daily operations.
• Leading by example in safety, housekeeping, and work quality.
• Coordinating development activities including ventilation, ground support, services installation, and logistics.
• Supporting shift planning and task allocation to ensure targets are met.
• Mentoring and coaching crew members to build capability and teamwork.
• Conducting pre-task risk assessments and participating in safety interactions and toolbox talks.
• Liaising with other departments and contractors to ensure smooth execution of scheduled works

What we’re chasing:

• Based in Parkes or keen to make the move
• Minimum 2–5 years underground mining experience, ideally in development.
• Strong understanding of underground mining processes and safety systems.
• Working at Heights, First Aid, and Security Clearance to handle explosives.
• Proven ability to lead by example and support team performance.
• Solid communication and organisational skills.
• A current “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
