Technical Project Manager

About the Role
 
Our client is a data-driven digital services company that develops solutions to automate business processes, improve customer engagement and maximise ROI.
 
They are seeking a technically minded Project Manager to oversee end-to-end delivery of digital and data-driven solutions. This role combines project management with strong business analysis and technical understanding, acting as the bridge between clients, stakeholders and developers.
 
You don’t need to write code, but you must understand how backend systems work, interpret SQL and database structures, translate business requirements into technical specifications, and communicate confidently with technical teams.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Project Management & Delivery

• Manage the full project lifecycle from discovery and planning through development, testing, deployment and post-launch support.
• Oversee project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, risks and dependencies to ensure successful delivery.
• Coordinate delivery schedules across technical teams and stakeholders, monitor progress and resolve issues.
• Facilitate client and internal meetings, manage expectations and ensure clear communication, documentation and follow-up.
• Coordinate UAT, defect resolution, release sign-off and ongoing solution improvements.

Technical & Business Analysis

• Gather and analyse business requirements, workflows, data needs and stakeholder expectations.
• Translate business objectives into technical specifications, functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Interpret SQL queries, database schemas, data structures, mappings and transformations to understand how backend systems operate.
• Work closely with developers to clarify requirements, assess technical feasibility and understand system dependencies and integrations
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including data dictionaries, field mappings, data flows, integration notes and release documentation.
• Support testing and validate that delivered solutions meet business requirements without needing to perform software development yourself.

Skills & Experience

• At least 3 years in Technical Project Management, Software Delivery, Business Analysis or a similar role, with experience delivering software or data-driven projects.
• Proven ability to manage project scope, schedules, risks, dependencies, stakeholders and delivery outcomes across the project lifecycle.
• Strong SQL proficiency, with the ability to interpret queries and understand relational databases, schemas, data models and backend data flows. Coding is not required.
• Ability to analyse business requirements, translate them into practical technical specifications and maintain clear, accurate documentation.
• Excellent communication skills, confident stakeholder and client engagement, strong analytical thinking and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Technical Capabilities

• Ability to query large datasets and design data models.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and database schema design.
• Experience working with development teams in structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) environments.
• Strong documentation skills, including requirements, process maps, technical briefs and project reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Visio experience is desirable.

Desirable Experience

• Exposure to digital platforms, CRM systems, data integrations or business process automation.
• Familiarity with APIs, system architecture or data transformation.
• Experience in automotive, dealer network or related technology environments.
• Qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or Project Management.
