This is an opportunity to step beyond traditional claims handling and play a key role in shaping an evolving in-house claims function within a specialist underwriting business.

With a strong focus on technical expertise, broker relationships and better claims outcomes, the business is investing in its claims capability and looking for an experienced professional who takes ownership, enjoys solving complex claims issues and wants to have a genuine impact.

Working closely with the Claims Manager, you'll manage a varied portfolio of general insurance claims, predominantly across Commercial Property and Liability claims.

Key Duties:

• Take ownership of claims from notification through to assessment, negotiation and settlement.
• Assess complex coverage issues, interpret policy wordings and make sound, commercially minded claims decisions.
• Drive timely, fair resolutions while minimising claims leakage
• Build strong working relationships with brokers, insureds, assessors, loss adjusters and other stakeholders.
• Ensure claims are managed in line with policy requirements, regulatory obligations and delegated authority.
• Contribute to improving claims processes, workflows and systems as the in-house function develops.

About You

You'll be a technically strong claims professional who is comfortable working autonomously, has sound judgement and understands that great claims management is about more than simply closing files.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• At least five years' general insurance claims experience.
• Strong technical experience across Commercial Property and Liability claims.
• Sound knowledge of policy coverage, exclusions, claims assessment and settlement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive mindset, with a focus on resolution, accountability and broker service.
• Experience with Lloyd's, binding authorities or delegated claims arrangements will be highly regarded.
