What are we looking for?
The Software Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, testing and delivery of high-quality applications and platforms supporting a major technology transformation. The role focuses on building and modernising platforms, engineering practices and delivery models to improve scalability, resilience and business agility.
- Design and build cloud-first, scalable and resilient applications using modern engineering practices.
- Develop solutions primarily in Node.js with strong software engineering fundamentals and SOLID principles.
- Champion serverless and event-driven architectures, using containers where appropriate.
- Build distributed systems using messaging, queues, topics and asynchronous patterns.
- Deliver reliable, secure and cost-effective cloud solutions with strong operational focus.
- Apply expertise across cloud technologies including compute, networking, security, identity and observability.
- Design and optimise NoSQL data models for scalability, resilience and performance.
- Make practical technology decisions based on business outcomes and operational suitability.
- Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver clear outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, technical excellence and engineering best practices across teams.
What will you bring?
- Strong experience building and supporting scalable, distributed cloud applications.
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture, including security, networking, resilience and observability.
- Hands-on experience with serverless and event-driven architectures.
- Strong programming skills, ideally in Node.js.
- Experience designing and optimising NoSQL databases and data models.
- Strong knowledge of Agile delivery and modern DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with Azure, Cosmos DB and highly available, fault-tolerant systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to influence engineering best practices and mentor other engineers.
- Azure certifications and React.js experience highly regarded.
