Your new role
Reporting to the Team Leader, Operating Licences, you will manage a portfolio of permissioning and licensing projects, delivering timely, high-quality assessments while supporting continuous improvement of regulatory processes, systems, and policies.Key Responsibilities
- Assess and determine development licence, permit, registration, designation, discharge, and permissioning applications in accordance with the Environment Protection Act 2017.
- Manage multiple concurrent permissioning projects, ensuring assessments are completed within tight timeframes and to a high standard.
- Prepare clear technical assessment reports, recommendations, licence conditions, and regulatory documentation.
- Apply structured project management principles, including planning, risk assessment, prioritisation, and progress monitoring.
- Assess environmental risks and ensure appropriate controls are implemented to protect communities, human health, and the environment.
- Manage complex and escalated applications, engaging technical specialists and internal stakeholders to support decision-making.
- Contribute to licence review programs, regulatory projects, and emergency response activities as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including process reviews, policy development, system enhancements, workflow improvements, and the development of learning materials.
- Collaborate with Science, Operations, Legal, and Business Improvement teams to deliver integrated regulatory outcomes.
- Represent the organisation professionally when engaging with industry, government agencies, duty holders, and community stakeholders.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to colleagues while fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
What you'll need to succeed
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline.Experience in environmental permissioning, licensing, development assessment, or regulatory roles, preferably within government.Strong knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and associated regulations.Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and delivery of complex work programs.Proven ability to assess complex technical information, apply legislation, and deliver evidence-based decisions.Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and report-writing skills.Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.What you'll get in return
