Federal Government organisation in Sydney CBD. Their finance team is dedicated to delivering accurate reporting, driving financial planning, and supporting the organisation with essential analysis.
Your new role
- Contribute to delivering high-quality finance and accounting services including advice, policies, processes and procedures that support the organisations goals.
- Lead the delivery of the financial reporting, procurement and internal control programs.
- Complete monthly actuals and balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Ensure financial reporting requirements are met, including monthly timeframes to other departments.
- Provide input to and assist with the preparation of the end of year financial statements.
- Assist with the management of internal budgets.
- Providing advice to the Executive and various Committees on complex financial matters.
- Lead the development and implementation of financial management policies, and drive continuous improvement across the financial framework.
- Engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders on complex or sensitive matters.
- Supervise, develop and set performance expectations for allocated staff, and contribute to workforce planning for the Finance team.
What you'll need to succeed
- CPA or CA qualified with a mix of both financial and management accounting skills
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of financial statements
- Understanding of the Commonwealth financial framework
- People management skills to support the team to achieve organisational goals
- Productive stakeholder engagement skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to influence outcomes
- Strategic thinking to identify areas for focus and implement solutions
- Ability to work effectively under pressure to achieve results
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident
- Baseline Security Clearance required
