About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as the RN in Charge for night shifts at Respect Mitchell House.

In this role, you will provide safe, high-quality and person-centred clinical care to our residents while being the primary Registered Nurse on duty overnight. You will work closely with the care team, provide clinical support when required and respond to any changes in residents' health or clinical needs throughout the shift.

This role would suit a confident and capable Registered Nurse who enjoys working independently and has strong clinical judgement, while still being part of a supportive and collaborative team.

Key Duties

  • Provide safe, competent and contemporary clinical nursing care to residents.

  • Take responsibility for clinical care and decision-making during the night shift.

  • Monitor residents and respond to changes in their health or clinical condition.

  • Complete resident assessments and contribute to the development and ongoing review of care plans.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

  • Administer medications and ensure appropriate medication ordering, storage and documentation procedures are followed.

  • Respond to clinical incidents, concerns and emergencies as required.

  • Provide clinical support and guidance to care staff during the shift.

  • Assist with resident admissions and ongoing assessments where required.

  • Communicate relevant clinical information and ensure thorough handovers between shifts.

  • Work in accordance with Respect's policies and procedures, aged care standards and relevant legislation.

Essential Requirements

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Previous experience as a Registered Nurse, ideally within residential aged care.

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.

  • Confidence working independently and managing clinical matters during a night shift.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of aged care standards and requirements.

  • Current National Police Certificate, or the ability to obtain one.

To be considered for employment with Respect, each candidate must satisfy the legislative requirements of Aged Care Worker Screening to ensure suitability to work in the aged care industry.
