Due to internal movement we're seeking a Quality Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Group Quality Assurance Manager, within this role you will be responsible for ensuring that production is performed in adherence to the Quality standards and approved arrangements, through the development, implementation and monitoring of those standards including:
- Verification of quality processes being adhered to and checked
- Liaising with government department representatives and internal/external stakeholders
- Implementing inspection and monitoring programs
- Allocation, rostering and training of required resources
About the role:
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing verification of Quality Assurance processes and Approved Arrangements.
- Manage site quality processes including investigations, corrective actions and close-out of non-conformances.
- Conduct verification activities, internal audits and quality inspections to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Maintain quality documentation, records and document control systems.
- Work closely with Production to ensure quality, product safety and regulatory standards are met.
- Lead pre-operational inspections, hygiene verification and process monitoring.
Compliance & Audit Management
- Maintain knowledge of export and production regulations and standards.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory, customer and certification audits.
- Support audit readiness through record verification, traceability exercises, mock recalls and system validation.
- Liaise with regulators, customers and industry representatives as required.
Quality Performance & Cost Control
- Help minimise product loss, rework and customer complaints through proactive quality management.
- Monitor quality performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
- Promote a safe workplace and strong food safety culture.
- Identify and report hazards, risks and non-conformances.
- Participate in WHS initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
People & Leadership
- Support daily QA team coordination and workload management.
- Train and coach employees on quality and food safety requirements.
- Foster a culture of compliance, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Assist in audits, investigations and leadership activities across the site
What we're looking for:
- A bachelor's degree or Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, Agricultural Science, Quality Management or equivalent experience, where the company will provide bespoke training and development plan in line with agreed role competencies.
- Demonstrated experience in a QA or compliance role within a food manufacturing or export processing environment
- Proven experience in leading a team (up to 9 direct reports), managing internal/external audits, and developing QA policies
- Deep knowledge of Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) regulations, Approved Arrangements, and export market requirements.
- Lead Auditor Certification: Certification in auditing quality systems (such as ISO 9001).
- Advanced training in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
