Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support a major brownfield fixed-plant replacement and upgrade project

Roster: 2/1 FIFO from Perth

Start date: ASAP

Duration: approx. 12 months - depending on client requirements

Pay Rate: $120.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

Please note that only people with relevant experience will be considered and contacted.

The Role:

Currently in its early stages, the project covers structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works, with significant construction and commissioning activities planned around shutdown windows.

This is a hands-on project delivery position suited to an engineer with strong contractor and/or EPCM experience. It is not a design engineering role. You will help take the project from early planning and constructability through fabrication, construction, installation, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide practical mechanical engineering and project delivery support.
  • Review drawings, specifications, vendor information, work packs and contractor deliverables for constructability.
  • Coordinate contractors and interfaces across mechanical, structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation scopes.
  • Support planning and readiness for brownfield construction and shutdown work fronts.
  • Manage technical queries, RFIs, field changes and non-conformances.
  • Review quality documentation, including ITPs, ITRs, weld records, inspection reports and mechanical completion records.
  • Review construction methodologies, lift studies and temporary works associated with equipment removal and installation.
  • Monitor contractor progress, productivity, schedule, costs, constraints and emerging risks.
  • Support FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, troubleshooting and defect resolution.
  • Drive completions, punch-list close-out, redlines, as-built documentation and handover.
  • Undertake site inspections and promote safe, compliant field execution.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Minimum five years' mechanical engineering and project delivery experience within mining, resources or heavy industry.
  • Strong contractor and/or EPCM background.
  • Demonstrated hands-on delivery experience across brownfield fixed-plant construction and shutdown projects.
  • Broad engineering experience with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary work packages.
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical installation, structural steel, welding, lifting and temporary works.
  • Experience with materials-handling systems such as surge bins, chutes and conveyors is highly regarded.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, quality documentation, completions and commissioning activities.
  • Strong constructability, planning, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills
