About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager - Vegetation to lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of vegetation maintenance operations across the network.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring vegetation management activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP), environmental requirements, and contractual obligations. You will provide leadership to operational teams and contractors while driving high standards of safety, performance, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of routine, cyclic, reactive, and project-based vegetation maintenance activities across the network.
  • Manage operational teams and contractors to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
  • Oversee vegetation management activities including weed control, tree maintenance, environmental works, and hazard mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental legislation, vegetation management standards, and organisational procedures, including SWMS, permits, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor maintenance programs, budgets, contractor performance, and operational risks, providing regular reporting and implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and provide technical expertise to support safe, sustainable, and compliant vegetation management outcomes.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in vegetation management, environmental services, arboriculture, horticulture, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience managing operational teams, contractors, and field-based maintenance activities.
  • Strong understanding of safety, risk management, environmental compliance, and contractor management principles.
  • Experience managing maintenance programs, budgets, resource allocation, and operational performance.
  • Certificate III or IV in Conservation & Ecosystem Management, Horticulture, Arboriculture, or a related discipline.
  • ACUP/ChemCert accreditation and experience within rail, utilities, infrastructure, or government environments will be highly regarded.
