Position Purpose

As part of the Chief Oral Health Advisor’s clinical leadership team, the Oral Health Advisor, Smile Squad provides clinical leadership and expert advice to support the delivery of the Smile Squad school dental program. The role contributes to improved oral health outcomes and consumer experiences through value-based healthcare principles while maintaining clinical practice through service delivery within Smile Squad.

Role Accountabilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and advice for the delivery, continuous improvement and evaluation of the Smile Squad school dental program, ensuring high-quality, safe and person-centred care aligned with value-based healthcare principles.
  • Support clinical governance, including peer review, quality improvement and professional development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate population health strategies, workforce planning, talent acquisition, staff development, and training programs.
  • Contribute advice on infrastructure, equipment and technology requirements that support program delivery.

Role Requirements - Knowledge

Mandatory

  • Tertiary qualification in Dental or Oral Health Therapy with current AHPRA registration.
  • Understanding of value-based healthcare, public and population health principles, and their application to oral health services.
  • Knowledge of the health sector, relevant legislation, policies, regulations, and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Understanding of oral health record management systems (e.g. Titanium) and user requirements.

Experience

Mandatory

  • Current practicing dental practitioner with strong clinical expertise and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience within a public healthcare setting.
  • Experience analysing clinical data and information to evaluate services and implement improvements.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
