Description

Nurse Practitioner (Full-Time) – Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Location: Narrabundah, ACT

Salary: Based on the Nursing and Midwifery Award

Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health & Community Services (Winnunga AHCS) is Canberra’s only Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. Located in the heart of Canberra, we deliver trusted, holistic healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the ACT and surrounding regions. We are seeking an experienced and culturally competent Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team including GPs, visiting specialists, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health specialists, social health and admin support.

This exceptionally professional and committed staff member will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Provide comprehensive and culturally competent clinical care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients by integrating physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Deliver a broad range of general practice and primary health care services tailored to the needs of the community.
  • Provide advanced, person-centred clinical care including diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health conditions, prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and delivering preventative care and health education.
  • Work closely with our care team to ensure high-quality, culturally safe services.
  • Maintain highest standards of professional conduct.

We are looking for exceptionally empathetic and resilient person who has:

  • full working rights in Australia
  • AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner
  • experience in primary health or a community-based setting
  • strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and cultures to ensure culturally safe interactions
  • strong clinical, communication, and collaboration skills
