We are seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team in Tullamarine. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a range of vehicles across different makes and models.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools
- Inspect engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and drivetrain components to identify faults and defects
- Carry out servicing and preventive maintenance on passenger and commercial vehicles
- Perform engine oil and filter changes and other routine maintenance services
- Repair and replace worn or defective mechanical components and vehicle parts
- Carry out brake and clutch inspections, repairs and component replacements
- Perform transmission servicing, repairs and component replacements as required
- Diagnoses and repair suspension, steering, and drivetrain-related faults
- Perform engine repairs and engine replacement work in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Carry out tyre fitting, wheel balancing and wheel alignment services where required
- Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble mechanical components and assemblies
- Test and adjust repaired components to ensure proper operation, safety and performance
- Use manufacturer service manuals, technical specifications and diagnostic information when required
- Conduct detailed vehicle inspections to identify maintenance and repair requirements
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs and servicing undertaken
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard of workmanship
Skills & Experience
- At least 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Motor Mechanic
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance
- Experience in engine, transmission, brake, clutch, suspension and steering repairs
- Ability to use computerized automotive diagnostic equipment
- Ability to inspect, repair, replace and reassemble vehicle components
- Good understanding of automotive mechanical systems and repair procedures
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication, problem-solving and time-management skills
- Commitment to workplace health and safety requirements
Qualifications
- AQF Certificate III or AQF Certificate IV in a related field
- Applicants with at least three years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
