Key responsibilities

  1. Perform pre-purchase and safety inspections to assess the mechanical condition and roadworthiness of vehicles
  2. Diagnose and repair air-conditioning, cooling and fuel system faults using appropriate tools and equipment
  3. Inspect and maintain vehicle tyres, wheel alignment, batteries, belts, hoses and other components
  4. Liaise with parts suppliers to identify, order and source appropriate replacement parts and components
  5. Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and testing equipment
  6. Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance of vehicles
  7. Repair and maintain braking systems, including brake pads, discs and callipers
  8. Inspect and repair steering and suspension systems
  9. Service and repair vehicle transmission and clutch systems
  10. Carry out engine repairs, adjustments and component replacements
  11. Identify faults and provide recommendations for necessary repairs and maintenance.
  12. Maintain accurate service and repair records.
  13. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety requirements.
  14. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop and properly care for tools and equipment.
  15. Communicate with customers and/or supervisors regarding vehicle faults, repair requirements, and completion of work.
  16. Ensure vehicles are returned in safe and roadworthy condition.
  17. Assist with general workshop duties and other mechanical tasks as required.
  18. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment and workshop machinery safely
  19. Ability to read and interpret vehicle service manuals, technical information and manufacturer specifications
  20. Ability to maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, repairs and parts used
  21. Ability to communicate with customers and supervisors regarding identified faults and recommended repairs
  22. Knowledge of WHS, environmental, workplace and manufacturer requirements when carrying out mechanical work
