An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading Defence organisation supporting the delivery of a major capability program. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will play a key role in the design, development and integration of complex products and systems throughout the engineering lifecycle.
This position would suit someone with a strong background in mechanical design, product development or engineering design within Defence, aerospace, automotive, rail, heavy industry or other highly regulated engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain mechanical designs, engineering drawings and technical documentation. Support design reviews, engineering change processes and configuration management activities. Produce and update 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings. Work closely with systems, manufacturing, quality and project engineering teams to deliver engineering outcomes. Conduct engineering investigations, design analysis and problem-solving activities. Ensure designs meet customer, safety, regulatory and compliance requirements. Support prototype, testing, verification and validation activities as required. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and design optimisation activities.

What youll need to succeed

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience within Defence, aerospace, automotive, rail, manufacturing or another complex engineering environment. Strong mechanical design and product development experience. Proficiency with CREO and/or CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, NX or similar considered). Experience producing engineering drawings and technical documentation. Understanding of engineering lifecycles, design reviews and configuration management processes. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams.

Desirable
Experience working on Defence programs.Understanding of systems engineering principles.Exposure to AS9100, ISO9001 or similar quality standards.Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
