Employer: Near By Massage Pty Ltd
Location: Brunswick VIC 3056
Type: Full-time, permanent — 38 hours per week
Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation
About the practice
Near By Massage Pty Ltd is a remedial massage practice with treatment clinics at Brunswick, Footscray, Ardeer, Melton, Richmond and Bacchus Marsh.
Our therapists treat clients presenting with musculoskeletal pain, soft tissue injury, restricted range of movement, postural dysfunction, and occupational and sporting overuse conditions. Every client is seen by appointment and begins with a documented clinical assessment. Treatment is delivered under a written plan with defined goals and scheduled review appointments, and clients are referred on to a general practitioner, physiotherapist or other health practitioner where their presentation falls outside the scope of remedial massage practice.
We accept referrals from general practitioners and allied health practitioners, and our therapists hold provider status with Australian private health funds.
About the position
This is a clinical caseload role. You will assess clients presenting with musculoskeletal complaints, determine an appropriate course of treatment, deliver remedial intervention over a series of appointments, and measure the outcome against the goals set at assessment.
You will work from our Brunswick clinic as part of a treating team, with clinical oversight from the Branch Manager and administrative support from reception staff, so that your time is directed to assessment, treatment and clinical documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct initial clinical assessments, including history taking, postural analysis, range-of-movement and orthopaedic testing, palpation, and identification of contraindications and red-flag presentations
- Formulate and document individual treatment plans setting out the presenting condition, treatment objectives, technique selection, treatment frequency and review points
- Deliver remedial massage intervention targeted to the assessed condition, including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deep tissue technique, muscle energy technique, and soft tissue injury and post-surgical rehabilitation techniques
- Prescribe home exercise, stretching and self-management programs, and review client adherence and progress at follow-up appointments
- Re-assess clients at scheduled reviews, measure treatment outcomes against plan objectives, and amend the treatment plan where indicated
- Identify presentations falling outside the scope of remedial massage practice and refer the client to a general practitioner, physiotherapist or other health practitioner, documenting the referral
- Maintain clinical records to professional association standards, including informed consent, assessment findings, treatment notes and outcome measures, and support private health fund and third-party claiming
- Maintain infection control, hygiene, equipment and work health and safety standards across the treatment environment
- Contribute to clinical standards and peer review across the practice's clinics
