With an annual budget of approximately $3.5 billion and a diverse range of funding streams, this organisation plays a critical role in supporting healthcare outcomes across the state.An opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance leader to join the Budget Strategy Team on a temporary basis, providing leave cover during a busy and strategically important budget planning period.Roles & ResponsibilitiesAs the Manager, Budget Strategy Team, you will lead the coordination and delivery of key budgeting and management reporting activities across the organisation. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will work closely with executive stakeholders and finance teams to support organisational planning and funding decisions.Key responsibilities include:
- Managing end-to-end budget processes and monthly management reporting activities
- Coordinating budget planning, forecasting, reporting and analytical functions across the organisation
- Preparing and presenting financial reports and insights for senior executives, including the CFO, Chief Executive, COO and Executive Directors
- Supporting the development of budget submissions for upcoming government budget cycles
- Analysing large and complex financial datasets to support decision-making
- Assisting with funding allocation discussions and providing strategic financial advice
- Collaborating with Department of Health stakeholders and contributing to Treasury-related processes where required
- Leading and supporting team members whilst ensuring deadlines and reporting obligations are met
What You'll Need to Succeed / ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Extensive experience managing end-to-end budgeting processes within a large and complex organisation
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
- Previous exposure to State Government budgeting processes, preferably within the health sector
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI
- Experience working with Oracle financial systems or similar ERP platforms
- Proven ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information
- Experience managing budgets with multiple funding streams and significant annual expenditure
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and negotiate at executive level
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work autonomously and quickly establish credibility within a new environment
