Your new roleWe're seeking a Mainframe Modernisation Architect to help bridge the gap between legacy COBOL systems and modern Java-based platforms.You'll lead architecture and design activities, analyse and interpret complex mainframe business logic, establish technical standards, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure modern solutions accurately replicate and improve existing functionality. This is a highly influential role combining architecture, technical leadership and hands-on problem-solving.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong Mainframe experience across COBOL, JCL and DB2
- Experience delivering legacy-to-modern transformation programmes
- Solid Java and Spring Boot expertise with modern application architectures
- Microservices, AWS and/or Azure experience
- MQ or enterprise messaging experience
- Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD knowledge
- Proven technical leadership across architecture, design and delivery
- Ability to work across both legacy and modern technology stacks
Desirable:
- Telecommunications or large-scale enterprise experience
- Modernisation tooling or migration accelerator experience
- Exposure to GenAI technologies
