Salary details: $55 – $65 p/h + Super
Location: Cairns & Far North
Travel & Accommodation

Start: Immediate until end of June

Our client is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join a multi-disciplinary team in one of Cairns Hospital’s district sites to provide back-fill for existing staff temporarily. The position will be based at Mareeba Hospital in the geriatric ward, across the sub-acute rehabilitation unit to commence immediately until the end of June.

Mareeba Hospital is one of Cairns & Hinterland, Hospital and Health Service’s district sites, a one hour drive from Cairns and a part of the Atherton Tablelands.

All about the role

  • Conducting assessments and developing individualized treatment plans for patients in community, and hospital
  • Delivering evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to promote recovery and independence.
  • Collaborating with other allied health staff to ensure the best outcomes for patients .
  • Work cooperatively and effectively, using well developed communication skills, with other service providers and with clients, carers and families, including those from indigenous and CALD backgrounds.
  • Initial Assessments, Functional Assessments, Cognitive screening and assessment, Home Visit assessment for safe discharge planning, delegation of tasks to Allied Health Assistance, goal-setting, and participate in weekly Case Conferences with MDT and Geriatrician.
  • Inpatient, outpatient clinic & community settings

The skills and experience I need for this job

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to meet QLD Health credentialing requirements.
  • 2 years experience as an Occupational Therapist
