Join Curtin University’s School of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences and play a key role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. We are seeking a passionate and committed Lecturer in Medical Imaging to contribute to the continued growth and success of our Bachelor of Science (Medical Radiation Science) program.
  
This is an exciting opportunity to combine academic leadership, teaching excellence and clinical expertise in a role that directly contributes to the quality of medical imaging education and practice. You will join a collaborative, high-performing team dedicated to delivering an outstanding learning experience for students, supporting strong student satisfaction, retention and graduate outcomes, and ensuring the continued quality and accreditation of the program.
  
You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality Medical Imaging education, while supporting the maintenance of MRPBA accreditation requirements and the growth and sustainability of clinical placement networks. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of evidence-based and innovative educational practices within Medical Radiation Science, helping to strengthen the discipline and prepare graduates for successful careers in the healthcare sector.
  
Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Deliver innovative, engaging teaching across core and specialised Medical Imaging and Medical Radiation Science theory and practice units within the Bachelor of Science (Medical Radiation Science).
  • Significantly contribute to curriculum design and course enhancement, ensuring alignment with current professional, industry, and accreditation standards.
  • Foster a strong culture of research and scholarly activity, significantly contributing to the evidence base in medical imaging and medical radiation science education and practice.
  • Mentor and support students through their academic and clinical learning journeys, serving as an inspiring role model and educator.
  • Actively engage with industry and clinical partners to strengthen professional networks and enhance clinical placement opportunities for students.

Who we are looking for (selection criteria): 
  
You will bring a blend of clinical expertise, teaching capability, and a passion for supporting student success, as well as:

  1. A doctoral qualification in Medical Radiation Science (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
  2. Current registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
  3. Demonstrated high level teaching skills and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  4. A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  5. An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
  6. Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination.
  7. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.

Role Requirements:

  1. As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
  2. Part time, 15 hours per week (0.4 FTE). Successful candidate will have the opportunity to negotiate their preferred working schedule.

Your new Team: Curtin School of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences
 
The School of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences (DaTS) at Curtin was established in February 2026 following the separation of the Disciplines of Biomedical Science, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiation Science, and Pharmacy from the Curtin Medical School. Each discipline has a long-standing history at Curtin University and is well established, academically mature, and professionally accredited.
 
The School delivers three accredited professional programs, two innovative Biomedical Sciences degrees, an end-on Biomedical Sciences Honours program, a Master of Research, and three PhD programs. DaTS also manages the Faculty of Health Sciences’ teaching Laboratory Services Delivery Team and contributes significantly to research activity through the Curtin Medical Research Institute. The School has strong partnerships with industry, health services, and professional bodies that underpin student placements, workforce development, and research co-supervision.

This is a part time (0.4 FTE), permanent position, with a salary range between $121,857 - $144,352 pro rata, plus 17% superannuation.
