About the Role

This is a FIFO role on 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster at BarrowIsland for an oil and gas operator.

The Instrument Engineer will provide site-based instrumentation engineering support to ensure the integrity, reliability, and performance of instrumented systems. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role partners with operations, maintenance, and reliability teams to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instrumentation engineering support to maintain safe and reliable operations.

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and support effective technical solutions.

  • Investigate failures and implement reliability improvements.

  • Manage instrumentation changes and upgrades through approved processes.

  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimise performance.

  • Provide technical expertise for instrumentation, control, and safety systems.

  • Support maintenance, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.

Ideal Candidate Criteria:

  • Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience providing instrumentation engineering support in industrial, manufacturing, processing, or heavy industry environments.

  • Strong understanding of field instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and safety systems.

  • Experience with troubleshooting, fault finding, maintenance support, and equipment reliability improvement.

  • Familiarity with engineering standards, compliance requirements, and change management processes.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
