Well-established, family run civil earthworks contractor based in Hastings, with a strong track record across bulk earthworks, road construction, subdivisions and civil infrastructure projects throughout Victoria. As the business scales, they're looking to bring on a senior HSEQ Manager to build their safety and compliance function from the ground up.
The Role
Standalone, senior HSEQ Manager position reporting directly to the owners. You'll own HSEQ strategy and delivery end to end — there's currently no formal OHS system in place, so this is a genuine opportunity to build one, not maintain an existing framework.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building out OHS systems, policies and procedures, and leading the business toward formal accreditation
- Working hands-on in the Hastings workshop with the team, covering SWMS, machine guarding, isolation procedures, PPE and housekeeping
- Visiting active sites across Bendigo, Ballarat, Dandenong and Hastings — toolbox talks, hazard inspections, near-miss reviews, plant safety audits
- Contributing to tender processes and compliance documentation as the role develops
- Approx. 40% travel, remainder split between workshop and admin
About You
- Proven HSEQ experience within civil construction, earthworks or a similar high-risk industry
- Confident building systems from scratch, not just maintaining them
- Comfortable hands-on with workshop and site teams, and engaging with leadership
- Strong WHS knowledge and familiarity with safety management systems (ISO 45001 or similar)
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly
