Your new role
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Carry out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs to ensure fleet safety and reliability
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, brake, airconditioning, engine, and transmission systems to manufacturer and legislative standards.
- Perform brake testing, wheel rotations, diagnostics, and programming adjustments where equipment and authority permit
- Respond to breakdowns and callouts and participate in the oncall roster as required
- Accurately complete work orders, maintenance records, and workshop documentation
- Assist with parts identification, stock control, ordering, and security
- Support and mentor apprentices and trade assistants, ensuring safe work practices at all times
- Maintain a strong safetyfirst approach by identifying hazards, reporting incidents, and complying with WHS, environmental, and quality requirements
What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic and have knowledge or experience with buses.
Skills and Qualifications required for this role:
- Trade qualification: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
- Previous mechanical experience in providing maintenance and repair.
- A medium-rigid license is essential, heavy-rigid license preferable.
- Forklift license (preferable).
- Exposure to diagnostics via computer-controlled systems is preferable.
- Effective customer service skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Full working rights in Australia
