Financial Accountant needed to work in South West Sydney.

Our client is a well-established and growing organisation operating across multiple locations throughout Australia. With a strong market presence and an established finance function, they are seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys a varied role spanning financial accounting, payroll, compliance and business partnering.
Your new role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function through the delivery of accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance and payroll activities. This position offers exposure across a broad range of accounting responsibilities and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and business projects
Key responsibilities include:Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
Assisting with month-end processes, management reporting and financial analysis.
Investigating financial variances and providing commentary to management.
Preparing and lodging BAS returns and supporting tax compliance activities.
Managing fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
Supporting annual audit processes and year-end financial reporting requirements.
Coordinating tax returns, workers compensation reporting and statutory obligations.
Processing and administering payroll, including payroll tax, superannuation and employee deductions.
Providing payroll support and advice to employees and managers.
Assisting with commission calculations and payments.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, financial projects and broader business operations.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Ideally CPA/CA qualified
- At least 5 years' accounting experience, ideally within a commercial environment.
- Strong financial accounting and month-end reporting experience.
- Previous payroll processing experience and knowledge of payroll compliance requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using ERP and accounting systems, with exposure to Xero highly regarded.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders across the business.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
