A market-leading national engineering business with sites across Australia is looking to recruit a skilled Finance Data Specialist permanently. Continued growth has led to this new position being recruited. The role is responsible for the management of the reporting dashboards, ensuring the integrity and quality of the data.
The Finance Data Specialist’s key tasks will include:
Data Integration & Architecture
- Manage the integration of financial software and legacy platforms during mergers, system upgrades, or migrations.
- Oversee the smooth extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of financial data from various operational systems into a centralised reporting framework.
- Reconciliation: Design automated controls and interfaces to ensure data flows are reconciled perfectly across systems.
Financial Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimise operational and reporting risks.
- Ensure financial reporting meets local statutory requirements, taxation laws (e.g., BAS, FBT), and international/local accounting standards.
Data Governance & Security
- Implement data governance frameworks to guarantee that financial metrics, data security, and privacy controls are rigorous and automated.
- Manage the Chart of Accounts and enforce data-mapping rules to ensure business units consistently define and categorise financial data.
- Regularly review metrics and data patterns to detect potential discrepancies, probity breaches, or fraud risks.
Key skills required:
- Experience of being in a similar role
- Experience in reporting systems, data warehousing and business intelligence products.
- Stakeholder engagement
- Demonstrated experience in the application of data management governance and principles.
- Experience in data analysis toolsets
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excel (Advanced – big data sets, pivot tables, advanced formulas),
