Electrical Engineering Draftsperson

Trinity Switchboards Pty Ltd operates in the electrical equipment manufacturing industry. We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Draftsperson to assist with the preparation of detailed electrical drawings, schematics, layouts and technical documentation for electrical switchboards and associated electrical distribution and control systems.
The successful applicant will work closely with engineering, production and project teams to ensure that electrical designs and manufacturing drawings meet project specifications, applicable standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical engineering drawings, plans, diagrams and technical specifications for electrical switchboards and associated equipment.
- Develop electrical schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, circuit layouts and general arrangement drawings for electrical distribution and control systems.
- Assist electrical engineers with the design and layout of switchboards, switchgear, cabling systems and electrical control circuits.
- Prepare and modify electrical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Interpret engineering specifications, technical drawings, client requirements and relevant electrical standards.
- Prepare detailed drawings showing component positioning, electrical connections, cable routing, terminal arrangements and equipment layouts.
- Review and update technical drawings to incorporate design modifications, engineering instructions and project requirements.
- Assist in determining material quantities, electrical components and equipment requirements from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Liaise with electrical engineers, project managers and production personnel to resolve drafting and design-related issues.
- Prepare and maintain drawing registers, technical documentation, revision records and as-built drawings.
- Review completed drawings and manufacturing documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with project specifications.
- Provide drafting support to manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure electrical switchboards are constructed in accordance with approved drawings.
- Assist with reviewing electrical designs and finished products for compliance with relevant Australian Standards and safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvements in drafting procedures, drawing accuracy and technical documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Diploma, Advanced Diploma or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Drafting or a closely related field.
- Minimum one (1) year of relevant work experience in electrical engineering drafting or a similar field.
- Demonstrated experience preparing electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical drafting software.
- Understanding of electrical switchboards, switchgear, power distribution systems and electrical control circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical engineering drawings, technical specifications and project documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian electrical standards and engineering drafting practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prepare accurate technical drawings.
- Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineering and production teams.
