The Opportunity

About You

You are an experienced transactional real estate lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' experience, bringing a strong track record from private practice or in-house roles within large organisations.

Your Experience & Expertise:

  • Demonstrated experience advising on a broad range of property and construction law matters within a government, statutory authority, private practice or in-house environment
  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, licences, easements and other property-related agreements
  • Proven ability to advise on complex property transactions and land use matters relating to public infrastructure, education assets and government-owned land
  • Experience supporting property development and infrastructure projects, including site feasibility assessments, title reviews, due diligence processes and land acquisition matters
  • Strong understanding of land title issues and the ability to identify legal risks associated with property ownership, development and occupation
  • Understanding of planning, land use and property development frameworks
  • Experience providing legal advice on leasing and licensing arrangements involving public assets and third-party occupiers
  • Familiarity with compulsory acquisition processes, native title matters and Aboriginal cultural heritage considerations, including associated regulatory requirements
  • Ability to provide strategic, practical and risk-based legal advice on property disputes, land access issues and related regulatory matters
  • Strong legal drafting skills, including preparation of agreements, licences, advice notes and other property documentation
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills with experience supporting government agencies, project teams, school leadership, operational stakeholders and third-party organisations
  • Ability to supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior lawyers and team members
  • Understanding of government procurement, governance and public sector decision-making processes would be beneficial
