About DSTG Innisfail
Since 1950, DSTG’s Innisfail facility has been at the forefront of testing and assessing how Australia’s tropical climate impacts military materials, systems, and technologies. This research plays a critical role in ensuring that the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is prepared for the harshest environments. While the primary focus is on material durability and exposure testing, biological science professionals contribute to key areas such as: 

• Biological sampling and analysis to understand environmental impacts.
• Bioinformatics and data interpretation for tropical conditions. 
• Assessment and evaluation of biological detection technologies. 

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking skilled Biological Scientists with expertise in areas such as: 

• Biological sampling, culturing, and analysis. 
• Bioinformatics and statistical interpretation of biological data. 
• Experimental design, deployment, and monitoring in tropical environments. 
• Biotechnology, molecular biology, and genomics. 
• Development and calibration of biological instrumentation.

Ideal candidates will have: 

• Tertiary qualifications in biology, biotechnology, or a related field. 
• Experience with biological testing, analysis, or experimental research. 
• Knowledge of Australian and International Standards and Defence requirements. 
• A passion for contributing to research in tropical biological sciences.
