Automation Specialist
- Provide technical support and maintenance for PLC and SCADA systems.
- Investigate root causes of downtime and develop engineering solutions.

Primo Foods is seeking an Automation Specialist to provide advanced automation engineering and technical support across one of our Wacol sites. This role is responsible for supporting, managing, and improving automation solutions while ensuring the reliability and performance of PLC and SCADA systems.
Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and other key stakeholders, you will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, troubleshooting technical issues and delivering automation projects across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for PLC and SCADA systems across the site
- Investigate the root causes of downtime and develop engineering solutions to improve operational performance
- Respond to programming breakdowns and urgent automation-related issues
- Plan, execute and close out automation tasks and projects on time and within budget
- Work closely with the Maintenance Planner to coordinate work orders, priorities, technical information, and inspection requirements
- Maintain and update PLC documentation, control system schematics, manuals and related technical records
- Develop functional specifications for new control processes and automation improvements
- Manage automation projects from implementation through to completion
- Design, develop, install, program, commission and fault-find control systems
- Administer and maintain SCADA systems, including databases, screendisplays, backups, alarms, user access and system configurations
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in automation engineering, PLC/SCADA support and automation equipment maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA systems, computer programming and software development
- Experience with project management and exposure to SAP
- High competency with Rockwell and Ignition platforms, with knowledge of other PLC systems highly regarded
