The Opportunity

This is a proper FD role in a business with scale, complexity and a clear growth agenda.

After recent investment from private equity, the business has grown to $100m+ revenue and continues to scale through a combination of organic growth, operational improvement, and acquisition activity.

This is not a sleepy finance seat where the biggest challenge is getting the month-end pack out on time.
The business has multiple entities, project revenue, service and maintenance contracts, working capital pressure, lingering acquisition integrations, evolving PE reporting requirements and all the moving parts that come with a rapidly growing group.

There is plenty to sink your teeth into here.

Role Profile

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with PE observers, you will lead the finance function and provide clear, commercial financial leadership across the group. Your remit will include:

  • Leading the finance function across a multi-entity building services group.
  • Owning management reporting, forecasting, budgeting and board-level financial analysis.
  • Providing clear visibility across contract profitability, margin (and driving margin improvement), WIP, and revenue recognition.
  • Delivering high-quality reporting, including board packs, KPI reporting, cash flow visibility and performance commentary.
  • Supporting acquisition integration, including systems, reporting, controls, entity structure and process alignment.
  • Leading, developing and structuring the finance team to support the next stage of growth.
  • Acting as a genuine commercial partner to the leadership team and operational leaders across the technical service lines

Successful Candidate Profile

The role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the commercial engine room. You will need to understand contract economics (project performance, revenue recognition, margin, cash, WIP, etc.)  and the expectations of a growth-oriented private equity environment.

You are there to help leadership understand what is really happening across the business, where performance is strong, where risk is building, and what needs to change.  For someone who has worked in the building services world, this is a strong opportunity to step into a broad leadership role with genuine commercial influence.

This role will suit someone who has probably seen a fast-growing services group from the inside. You will bring:

  • Senior finance leadership experience in building services or a similar contracting environment.
  • Strong project accounting understanding and experience
  • Experience working with recurring service, maintenance or contract revenue models.
  • Confidence operating in a private equity-backed environment with demanding board/investor reporting requirements.
  • Strong multi-entity finance experience, including consolidations, intercompany activity, reporting discipline and process standardisation.
  • Experience supporting acquisition integration, ideally across finance systems, controls, reporting and operating rhythms.
