Lead reporting and finance operations in a hands-on 3-month Management Accountant contract

3-4 Month Temporary Contract
Full-time role based in Gladesville, 1 day per week working from home
Up to $70 per hour + super depending on experience

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate financial information while overseeing a small team consisting of a Payroll Officer and Assistant Accountant.
This position requires an experienced finance professional who can operate autonomously, take ownership of deliverables from day one, and provide stability and leadership within a busy environment.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Analysis of financial performance, trends and key business drivers
  • Month-end close activities including journals, reconciliations and reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Supporting cash flow reporting and financial planning activities
  • Reviewing and improving financial processes and controls
  • Providing leadership and oversight to the Payroll Officer and Assistant Accountant
  • Partnering with operational stakeholders to provide financial insights and reporting support
  • Assisting with ad hoc analysis and finance projects as required

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a Management Accountant, Senior Financial Accountant or similar position
  • Strong financial and management reporting experience
  • Previous responsibility for month-end processes, budgeting and forecasting
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience using NetSuite will be highly regarded
  • Experience within childcare, education or similar industries will be highly regarded
