Carpentry Supervisor

Seeking an experienced carpentry supervisor to start immediately.

Exciting opportunity to work with a large state government department, located in Nedlands.You will be responsible for organising all carpentry and maintenance works for all plant, facilities, equipment and buildings across a large portfolio.
Your new role

Assists the Facilities Management Division in developing an efficient and cost-effective system of Carpentry works and maintenance for all facilities and buildings on-site by coordinating and supervising the activities of nominated staff and on-site contractors to ensure specifications, quality, timelines, and cost-effectiveness of work meets customer requirements and complies with Hospital policies, practices, and relevant legislation. Prepares work estimates and provides quotations and technical advice to clients as required. Controls and monitors expenditure allocated to projects under control and assists the Facilities Management Division in formulation of annual works programmes and budgetary estimates.
Liaises with, coordinates, directs, and supervises external contractors as required. Ensures staff and contractors adhere to all safety requirements and procedures in accordance with Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) requirements Ensures all equipment issued to staff is in good working order and is in accordance with OSH requirements. Participates in continuous Quality Improvement activities to improve the operational efficiency of the Department. Carries out regular inspections of site buildings, equipment and plant incorporating planned maintenance. Procures and maintains an optimum and cost-effective supply of work materials, equipment and spares as required. Maintains liaison with other sections of the facilities management department regarding operational requirements. Assists in the recruitment / selection / orientation process and resolves human resource / payroll / leave enquiries on behalf of staff. Undertakes the implementation and maintenance of performance management systems, which support the systematic continuing development of teams, individuals, and apprentices, including working as a team. Ensures the provision of Carpentry and Joinery services across the portfolio in accordance with planned maintenance schedules and operational requirements. Plan, implement and coordinates daily work schedules of Carpenters, trades assistants and apprentices. Coordinates and directs the activities of carpentry / trades staff as assigned.

What you'll need to succeed
An Australian recognised Carpentry Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification with sound post-trade experience is essential.Previous supervisory experience in a trade workshop is desirable, including the ability to support and develop apprentices.Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multi-service team.Demonstrated organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Well-developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with proven ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.Experience in the use of computers and computerised works management systems.Current C or C.A. class drivers licenceCurrent knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health, and how these impact on employment and service deliveryWhat you'll get in return
The role is being offered on an initial temporary contract for an immediate start. You will also be offered:

• 37.5 hours Monday to Friday
• Weekly pay structure, equivalent to HSO level 6 from $114k equivalent
• Convenient location for public transport
• This is a 6-month temporary contract, with possible extension
