Description

Help shape how WTW navigates complex legal matters across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. In this high impact role, you’ll be a trusted advisor to business leaders—driving pragmatic legal solutions on contracts, disputes, M&A, employment and regulatory developments—while collaborating closely with our global Office of General Counsel.   This role is based in Sydney.

The Role

  • Advise Pacific leadership teams on general and transactional legal matters, providing clear, commercial guidance. 
  • Lead and support functional projects and improvement initiatives aligned to OGC and WTW objectives. 
  • Engage effectively with regulators, vendors, outside counsel and other stakeholders to manage risk and protect WTW’s reputation. 
  • Manage external legal spend in line with OGC guidelines, working collaboratively with global OGC teams.

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • 3+ years’ PQE with a proven track record in private practice and/or in‑house; admitted and in good standing in a relevant jurisdiction. 
  • Deep knowledge of financial services law and regulation; insurance/insurance broking sector exposure preferred  
  • Experience advising professional services businesses and operating across the Pacific region; strong stakeholder influence skills. 
  • Calm under pressure, discreet with sensitive information, commercially aware, and able to see the bigger picture of legal/ethical obligations. 
  • M&A support (including due diligence) and the ability to identify potential issues early.
