An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Governance & Compliance Officer to join a community-focused organisation based in Yarrabah on a 12-Month Fixed Term contract.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll play a key role in supporting organisational governance, compliance, policy development and corporate reporting while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, influence organisational outcomes and support the delivery of services that make a meaningful difference to the local community.

- Support governance, compliance and corporate administration activities across the organisation
- Coordinate policy reviews and maintain governance and legislative compliance registers
- Monitor compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations
- Prepare reports, briefing papers, policies and governance documentation
- Support audit activities, risk management initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Assist with corporate reporting and statutory obligations
- Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and regulatory bodies
- Promote governance best practice and organisational accountability
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in governance, compliance, policy, administration, local government or a related environment
- Strong report writing, research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- The ability to interpret legislation, policies and governance frameworks
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
