ENGAGEMENT OFFICER (50D)

• Location: Carnarvon

• Fixed Term Part-Time until 31 December 2026

• 65 hours / fortnight

About the Role

Are you someone who values community, connection, and creating opportunities for children and young people? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded Engagement Officer to join our Carnarvon Education and Engagement Program.

In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with First Nations families, community members, schools, and local organisations to help ensure children have every opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Your work will directly support improved educational outcomes by strengthening connections, breaking down barriers to participation, and championing the value of education within the community.

As part of the Ngala Carnarvon team, you’ll collaborate with other dedicated team members and programs to design and deliver activities that boost engagement and support children and young people.

Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and facilitate activities that promote the engagement of young people in education and learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to offer activities that support the development of children, young people, and families.
• Work alongside and empower children and families to be engaged in education and activities that enhance their skills, knowledge, and confidence.

About You

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong communication skills together with the following:

• Aboriginality is an occupational requirement for this position under 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.
• Experience working within a similar role.
• Effective communication skills with a wide range of people from a variety of backgrounds.
• Ability to provide mentoring and support to families and co-workers.
• Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills, including conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work within the community.
• Ability to develop and facilitate action plans and to report on progress.
• Computer literacy.
• Flexible and reliable.
• Based In Carnarvon. (housing not provided)
• Available for an immediate start.

Role Requirements

• Able to work across other Ngala sites as required.

• Possession of a current National Police Certificate (obtained within the last 6 months).

• Possession of current WA driver’s licence.

• Possession of a Working with Children Check Clearance.
