About the opportunity

adaptbl legal is recruiting an experienced administrative lawyer with ideally 7+ years’ PAE for our Commonwealth Government client. The role will focus on advising on complex statutory frameworks, including legislative reform proposals and broader projects impacting the delivery of government programs, with a strong emphasis on statutory interpretation and legislation development.

An initial 6-month labour hire contract is on offer, with prospects of extension up to 6-months.

Please note: only Australian citizens with the ability to obtain/maintain a Baseline clearance can be considered for this role.

Duties
 

  • Provide legal advice on matters arising under relevant government legislation, including complex statutory schemes
  • Advise on proposals for legislative reform and projects affecting the delivery of government programs
  • Undertake statutory interpretation and support the development, amendment and implementation of legislation
  • Provide administrative law advice, including legislative compliance and decision-making frameworks
  • Support program delivery and remediation activities, including identifying and managing legal risk
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, manage and support junior staff, and contribute to complex legislative and policy work

Requisite skills/experience
 

  • Demonstrated experience in administrative law within a government or regulatory environment
  • Strong statutory interpretation skills, including advising on complex legislative frameworks
  • Experience advising on legislation development, reform processes and implementation
  • Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to stakeholders on complex issues
