The Private Tutor/Teacher provides tailored academic and skills-based instruction to individual students and small groups, including learners requiring additional support. The role involves preparing lessons, monitoring progress, and working with families to encourage learning both in structured sessions and in practical settings.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plans, prepares, and delivers lessons that are adapted to meet the learning needs of individual students and small groups.
2. Develops individualized programs of study that reflect students’ strengths, goals, and areas for improvement.
3. Instructs and demonstrates key concepts, providing guided practice and reinforcement to promote mastery of skills.
4. Assigns exercises and activities to consolidate learning and build fluency.
5. Assesses students’ abilities and progress, providing feedback and adjusting lesson approaches as needed.
6. Prepares students for assessments, monitoring outcomes to evaluate learning success.
7. Maintains accurate records of student attendance, lesson plans, and progress reports.
8. Communicates regularly with parents and caregivers to discuss student progress and strategies for continued support at home.
9. Incorporates practical, real-world learning opportunities to strengthen student engagement and skill application.
10. Participates in staff meetings, curriculum updates, and training sessions to maintain high standards of teaching practice.
11. Undertakes professional development through reading, courses, and conferences to remain current with effective tutoring and teaching approaches.
12. Contributes to program improvements and supports colleagues in delivering consistent, high-quality instruction.
