Apply your expertise to complex geotechnical and environmental challenges that matter to Queensland.

Within the Operational Support branch of the Environmental Services and Regulation (ESR) Division, the Principal Technical Specialist (Geotechnical Engineer) provides expert technical advice to support the regulation of resource activities and environmentally relevant activities across Queensland.

You will play a key role in assessing and advising on technically complex matters, including tailings storage facilities, landfills, mine waste management, subsidence, and the stability of major structures such as spoil dumps and levees. Working closely with regulatory officers, technical specialists, legal advisors, industry and other stakeholders, you will help inform environmental decision-making on matters of significant public and environmental interest.

We're looking for someone who can:

  1. Apply advanced geotechnical engineering expertise to complex environmental and resource sector issues.
  2. Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
