Brisbane Housing Company (BHC) is one of Queensland’s leading not-for-profit developers and managers of social and affordable housing. Established in 2002, BHC has built a strong record of creating quality affordable homes, supporting sustainable tenancies and helping people and communities thrive. Today, BHC brings together housing management, property development, asset management, resident support and customer service capability, working with government, financiers, developers, service providers and communities to increase housing supply and deliver enduring social value.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an accomplished and purpose-led Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead BHC into its next chapter. This is a significant leadership opportunity at a time when housing is one of Queensland’s most pressing social and economic challenges. Reporting to the Board, the CEO will build on BHC’s strong foundations while shaping the strategy, partnerships, organisational capability and investment required to increase its impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Board, shape and deliver BHC’s long-term strategic direction and organisational priorities.
  • Lead the enterprise with a clear focus on performance, culture, financial sustainability and resident outcomes.
  • Identify and progress opportunities to increase the supply of social and affordable housing while maintaining strong commercial and investment discipline.
  • Build trusted relationships with government, financiers, investors, developers, community partners and the broader housing sector.
  • Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing executive and leadership team, creating a culture of accountability, inclusion and constructive challenge.
  • Maintain strong governance, risk management, regulatory compliance and confidence among BHC’s Board, shareholders, regulators and funding partners.
  • Represent BHC externally and contribute constructively to policy, funding and sector conversations that can improve housing outcomes across Queensland.

About You:

You will be an influential enterprise leader who can operate confidently across purpose, performance and complexity, with:

  • Proven senior executive leadership experience, including the development and execution of organisational strategy.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to balance social purpose, investment, risk and long-term sustainability.
  • Demonstrated success working with Boards and building sophisticated relationships across government, industry, finance and community.
  • A track record of leading growth, transformation and organisational performance in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Exceptional judgement, communication and influencing capability, together with an authentic and highly visible leadership style.
  • Experience in housing, property, development, infrastructure, government, financial services, social infrastructure or another complex purpose-led environment will be highly regarded.

You will also possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a genuine connection to BHC’s purpose, with an understanding that residents and communities must remain at the centre of organisational decision-making.
