Laser & Press Operator Assistant
- Operate brake press and CNC laser cutting machinery safely and efficiently.
- Support fabrication and mechanical trades with workshop activities.
- Maintain clean, organised work areas and uphold workshop housekeeping standards.
Based in Tomago, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Laser & Press Operator Assistant to join our fabrication and mechanical workshop team. This role works closely with trades and workshop personnel to ensure jobs are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate brake press and CNC laser cutting machinery safely and efficiently
- Support fabrication and mechanical trades with workshop activities
- Prepare, deliver, and organise materials and equipment for workshop jobs and repairs
- Maintain job packs, quality records, and workshop documentation accurately
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Maintain clean, organised work areas and uphold workshop housekeeping standards
- Participate in safety initiatives, toolbox meetings, and raise NCRs when required
- Contribute to waste reduction and continuous improvement activities
- Prioritise workloads and manage schedules to meet operational requirements
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisors
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience operating Brake Press and CNC laser cutting machines in an industrial environment
- Previous experience in a fabrication or mechanical workshop environment
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality outcomes
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and procedures
Licences & Tickets
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck Licence (desirable/advantageous)
- High Risk Work Licences:
- Forklift Licence (LF)
- Dogging Licence (DG)
