About the Role

Smith & Co Recruitment is currently seeking experienced, trade-qualified Mechanical Fitters for multiple opportunities with established engineering and manufacturing businesses across Brisbane.

We have both full-time and long-term casual positions available, offering excellent career opportunities for skilled tradespeople looking for stability and ongoing work.

These roles involve maintaining, servicing, repairing and assembling a variety of industrial machinery, heavy-duty concrete mixing equipment and manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, service and repair industrial machinery and heavy equipment
• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults and equipment issues
• Assemble, fit and repair mechanical components and machinery
• Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
• Inspect and replace bearings, gearboxes, motors and worn components
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications
• Assist with machinery installations and equipment upgrades
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment

Skills & Experience

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting – Essential
• Proven experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance or equipment repairs
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with preventative and breakdown maintenance
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Confident using workshop tools and mechanical equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Highly Regarded:

• Experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance
• Background in heavy equipment or concrete mixing machinery
• Experience in aluminium manufacturing or metal processing
• Knowledge of automated production equipment and machinery
• Welding and fabrication skills
• Experience working with conveyors, gearboxes and hydraulic systems
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts
